Terms of use

Last updated 16 October 2026. These terms apply to Spider SEO for macOS and to spider-seo.app. Disponible solo en inglés.

Who these terms are between

Spider SEO is developed and published by Anton Sychev, an independent developer ("we"). You are the person or organisation installing and using the app on a Mac you control.

The app is distributed through the Mac App Store. Apple distributes it under its own conditions, and buying anything in the app is a transaction between you and Apple, not between you and us.

Your licence

We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to install and use Spider SEO on Macs you own or control, for auditing websites you own or have permission to audit.

You may not resell, sublicense, reverse engineer for the purpose of building a competing product, remove or tamper with the licence check, or redistribute the app bundle.

Free edition and the Pro subscription

The free edition is complete software, not a time-limited demo: it crawls up to 500 URLs per run and keeps every result on your machine.

Pro is an auto-renewing subscription sold in the app through Apple: 19 € per month or 179 € per year, billed to the Apple ID you sign in with, plus any introductory offer shown at the time of purchase. Prices include applicable VAT where VAT applies and may be shown differently in your storefront.

The subscription renews automatically until you cancel. Apple charges your account within 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can cancel at any time in App Store account settings, or in the app under Settings › Manage Subscription…; cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends to stop the next renewal. Pro remains available until the period you already paid for ends.

If an introductory offer or free trial is shown at purchase, it converts into the paid plan you chose when it ends unless you cancel at least 24 hours before. Any unused part of a free trial is forfeited when you buy a subscription.

Prices can change. Apple tells you in advance and, where the law or Apple's rules require it, asks for your consent before a higher price renews.

If a subscription lapses or is refunded, Pro features switch off and the crawler returns to the free limit. Your crawl databases, exports and screenshots stay on your Mac and remain readable and exportable.

Refunds and the right of withdrawal

All payments go to Apple, never to us, so we cannot issue refunds ourselves. To ask for one, go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with the Apple ID you paid with, choose the Spider SEO subscription and select "Request a refund". Apple decides under its own refund policy and usually answers within a few days.

If you live in the European Union or the United Kingdom, Apple's Media Services Terms give you the right to cancel a purchase within 14 days of receiving the receipt, without giving a reason, through the same page. That right comes from Apple's terms and the law of your country; nothing here limits it.

When a refund is granted, Pro switches off on the next check, as it does when a subscription lapses. Your crawls and exports stay on your Mac.

If something does not work as described, write to us first through the support page: we would rather fix it, and we can tell you whether a refund request makes sense.

Crawling responsibly

You are responsible for what you crawl and for having the right to do it. Spider SEO ships with robots.txt enforcement, URL normalisation and a polite default rate because they are the right defaults, not because they substitute for your judgement.

Do not use the app to overload or disrupt a third-party server, to collect personal data at scale, to harvest content for a competing copy of a site, or to get around access controls, paywalls or technical protection measures.

A website audit produces findings about someone else's pages. Publishing or acting on those findings is your responsibility; access to a site is not authorisation to disclose its weaknesses.

Third-party services and search data

The Search Console, Analytics and Page Speed insights use your own Google credentials and are governed by Google's terms, which you accept separately. We do not control those services and are not responsible for their availability, quota or policy changes.

The structured-data and indexability checks describe how a crawler behaves today against published guidance from Google and the axe-core rules. Search engines change their algorithms and their documentation without notice.

No guarantee of results

Spider SEO tells you what a crawler sees and why. It is a diagnostic tool, not a guarantee of rankings, traffic, indexation or compliance with any law, regulation or third-party policy.

Disclaimer of warranty

The app is provided "as is" and "as available", to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that it is error-free, that it will keep working with future macOS versions or websites, or that any crawl will complete.

Crawling writes to disk and can consume bandwidth for a long time. Keep backups of anything you cannot afford to lose, as you would with any tool that touches your network and files.

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, our total liability for anything arising from your use of the app is limited to the amount you paid for it during the twelve months before the claim, and we exclude liability for lost profits, lost data, lost rankings and other indirect or consequential loss.

This clause does not apply to liability that cannot be limited: death or personal injury from our negligence, fraud, or your statutory consumer rights in a country that does not allow them to be waived.

Changes, suspension and termination

We may update the app, the free limit and this page. A material change to these terms is announced on this page with a new date and, where it affects a live subscription, in the app before the next renewal.

We may suspend access to spider-seo.app (for example the bug-report endpoint) for maintenance or abuse; the app keeps working on your Mac when we do.

You can stop using the app at any time and cancel the subscription through Apple. Either side may terminate for a material breach that is not cured within thirty days of notice.

Applicable law and disputes

These terms are governed by Spanish law. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim before the courts of your place of residence.

EU consumers can also use the European Commission's list of out-of-court dispute resolution bodies. We are not obliged to take part in an alternative dispute resolution procedure, but we answer every complaint sent to the support address.

Apple's standard license agreement

For copies obtained from the Mac App Store, Apple's Standard End User License Agreement applies alongside these terms, including its rules on usage data sent to Apple and on who you contact first for support, warranties and claims.

Nothing in these terms changes your rights as a consumer under the law of the country where you live.
